Thematic Assessment of Philippine Foreign Relations

This research program is fully supported by the University of the Philippines, through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development of the University of the Philippines Diliman. Originally conceptualized as a book writing project at its beginning in 2008, it has now expanded to involve four major components, to wit:

1. Understanding Philippine Foreign Policy through New Frames – a book writing project
2. Forging a New Philippine Foreign Policy – a Website
3. Case writing on Philippine diplomacy: lessons learned from negotiations and crisis management experiences
4. Enhancing the teaching of Philippine foreign relations: curricular workshops and building of bibliographies

Other major outputs of the project thus far include an international conference held in March 2009 titled The Philippines and Japan in East Asia and the World and Roundtables on Philippine External Security.
